The museum owns 2,235 gold, bronze, jade, stone, lacquer, pottery, and Ivory relics in total, including 366 First Grade Cultural Relics, 374 Second Grade Cultural Relics, and 1429 Third Grade Cultural Relics. In 2007, Jinsha Site Museum was entitled National 4A Scenic Area and First Grade National Museum.

 

Jinsha Site Museum is built to protect, study and display the archaeological finds of Jinsha Site, which was discovered by archaeologists in February 2001. Covering an area of about five square kilometers, Jinsha Site probably dates back to about 3,000 years ago, the time from the late Shang Dynasty (17th-11th century BC) to the early Spring and Autumn Period (770 BC-476 BC). It is the core of Shang and Zhou Dynasty (17th century BC-221 BC) and the second ancient city of Shu State found only after the Three-Star Piles Museum. Altogether 63 sacrificial spots, 6,000 pieces of precious relics, over 70 building spots and 3 centralized cemeteries were unearthed here.

 

There are three “the most” of Jinsha Site. First, Jinsha Site has the discovery of the most ivories in the world among its kind in the same time period. The ivories include complete ivories, cut ivories, ivory segments, ivory pieces, and ivories in shape of strip, bean or bead. Scientific identification considers these ivories to be belonged to local Asian elephants. Second, it has the most golden artifacts among other ruins in the same time period of China. The number of golden artifacts exceed 200, which includes gold foils, gold films, gold masks, gold belts, Gold Foil of the Sun God Bird, box-shaped gold and so on. Third, Jinsha Site also has the most jade unearthed with a number of over 2,000 pieces. They are in shapes of axe, chisel, knife, sword, spear, ring, bracelet and so on.
